Slow Progress

I am still sanding but at least I am working my way through finer grits. There are places along some of the seams that need re-gluing, and I am finding ways to use epoxy so there is less of a mess to clean up afterward. The most difficult sanding is those damn interior seams, and I have taken to using jewelers files to get at some of the more angled parts. The sanding is hard even though I wear a respirator and protective eye wear. Shit-the fine particles- still finds its way into my lungs and eyes. I have ventilation which I run in addition to having the rotary sander hooked up to a dust bag. In between sanding and gluing, I am fashioning wooden elements that will eventually attach to the bow and stern transoms as a way to bring visual continuance to the boat, something that a traditional shipwright wouldn't necessarily think of...unless he were of the artistic persuasion...but then, boats were built for functional purposes, not art. And who in their right mind would try to build a boat like this. The etching complete, the stern transom attached. Onward, Sailor.
