Untying the knots

Recently I decided to take a bit of a break from the boat. I thought it better to take time for reflection and give my hands a rest as well. They are still pretty beat up. When I decide to do something, I go in it all the way, no holding back. There is something about the physicality of making for me, that movement, the blending of muscle and thought...or losing oneself in the making that thoughts seem more ethereal.

I am on another road trip. And as this one goes, there is not much time for research as much as I want to do the research. This kind of research, focusing on a community, takes time. I'm moving through space too fast right now, driving at least ten hours a day: Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut. Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia, Canada. Then I have to come back down, and that is another direction for later.

  1. First I was thinking "oh? No Newfoundland". But you can't move through space as fast here, the ferry slows you down, and it stays with you

  2. Not this trip, unfortunately, though it IS a favorite and I have very fond memories of St. John's, Port De Grave, and Winterton. I'll come back soon and we'll have some tea, look at and talk about art.
