Hands & Sand

I have been working the laps on the interior of the boat pretty steadily, between four and nine hours a day, every day. Needless to say, my hands are taking a beating from gripping the electric sanders. The Dewalt orbital sander works best for overall sanding and the Ryobi sander is better for the edges because it is smaller.
A few years ago, a tendon on my right hand ring finger popped off the bone at the joint nearest the fingernail. I had to wear a brace for over eight weeks, and I was told I could not paddle my canoe (I did anyway, I couldn't stand being off the water for that long...but I was careful), and then weeks of physical therapy afterward. That finger is now sore along with stress on the rest of the hand, particularly strained is the area between the thumb and pointer finger on both hands. I have been icing and taking an anti-inflammatory. I gave it a days rest and shorted a couple of longer days. I am hoping only one-two more days of sanding before I can go back to the buffing. I am working hard, and its frustrating that it is taking a long time. It will be satisfying when it is done, but I feel pretty beat up right now.
